Pay and payslips
The figures as your payslip printed them, and nothing added on top.
Add the PDF or the photo payroll sent and ShiftKit reads the pay period, the hours paid and the amounts it can find. You check them, then they are kept, with the file itself alongside.
It reports. It does not advise, it does not audit, and it never tells you a payslip is right or wrong.
Adding a payslip
Hand it the payslip payroll sent
Work, then Payslips, then add. Choose the PDF or the photo your employer gave you. ShiftKit reads the pay period, the hours paid and the amounts it can find, and shows them to you before anything is saved.
- A PDF or a photograph both work, so a payslip handed over on paper can be photographed and added the same way as one that arrived by email.
- The file itself is kept as you added it, alongside the figures read from it.
- Payslip files stay on the device and in your own backups. They are sent nowhere, and go out only when you deliberately export them.
What is read, and the review first
You read it before it saves
Nothing from a payslip is stored until you have looked at what was read. The reader is a first pass at the page, not a verdict on it.
- What it looks for: the pay period, the hours paid, and the amounts printed on the page.
- Everything read is shown for you to check and correct before it is saved.
- What it cannot find, it does not guess at. A figure that is not on the page is not invented for you.
Your file, your figures
A reader, not an auditor
ShiftKit puts the numbers where you can see them over time. Whether they are the right numbers is a question for your employer or your union, not for an app.
The figures
The figures as your payslip printed them
Every figure shown is the figure printed on your payslip.
- Gross, net, tax withheld, superannuation and paid hours, reported as printed.
- The figures are reported, not recalculated. ShiftKit does not work out what any of them should have been.
- Nothing is marked correct or incorrect, because that is not a call a log can make.
It reports, it does not advise
ShiftKit does not check a payslip and does not say whether one is right or wrong. It gives no advice on tax, superannuation or entitlements. If something looks wrong, that is a conversation with your employer or your union.
Set your own year
The financial year start is yours to set
The financial year start and the currency symbol are settings, so the figures group the way your own paperwork does.
Pay over time
Graphs, and a calendar that shows the gaps
Once there is more than one payslip on file, the pattern across them is the useful part.
- Pay over time shows gross, net and hours across the payslips you have added.
- A coverage calendar shades the days your payslips cover, so a missing period is obvious without you keeping a list.
- Trends and charts look back seven days on the free tier and across your whole history with Pro.
Exporting what you have stored
The files back out, as they went in
From the payslip list you can export the files you have stored, one or several, as they were when you added them.
- Useful for a tax agent, a loan application or a rental form.
- The exported file is the one you added, not a summary written over the top of it.
- Printed Reports and CSV or PDF summaries cover the rest of your records the same way: your calendar, your shift list and your daily figures on tidy A4 pages, or the same thing saved as a PDF.
- Settings, Data and privacy holds the wider version of this: export everything as a file, take a backup, or delete the lot. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you ask for it.
On the way out
Nothing leaves without you
An export is an action you take. There is no ShiftKit account and no ShiftKit server for a file to be sent to.
Casual, agency and locum work
Rates per site, earnings per placement
Work booked site by site does not fit one roster and one rate, so the pay side follows the placement rather than the pattern.
- Rates per site, earnings per placement, and invoice-ready summaries.
- A site is somewhere you work. A placement is a stretch of work at one, with its own dates and pay details. Availability is the days you have told an employer you can take.
- Up to three sites on the free tier, and as many as you work with Pro.
- The hours side stays beside it: rostered times, the times you tapped Start and Finish, and the paid hours as your payslip printed them, each shown as its own record.
Where the hours come from
The roster keeps its own count
Paid hours come off the payslip. Rostered and actual hours come off the roster. ShiftKit shows all three and reconciles none of them for you.

Before you start
A tool for you, not a record for anyone else
ShiftKit is not a medical device. It does not diagnose anything, it does not assess fitness for duty, and it is not an approved system of record. Do not put patient-identifying information or incident numbers into it. Everything it shows you is a summary of what you chose to log, held in your own iCloud.
