Terms of Use
Last updated 10 August 2026 Effective 10 August 2026
In plain English
ShiftKit is a personal tool for tracking your own shifts, sleep and habits. It is not a medical device and it never decides whether you are fit to work. You buy it through the App Store, so Apple handles the money and the refunds. Your data stays in your own iCloud, where the developer cannot see it. Use it for yourself, keep it out of your employer's clinical records, and follow your employer's fatigue policy over anything the app shows you.
01Acceptance of these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Michael Blach, the sole developer of ShiftKit, based in Queensland, Australia. They are also the end user licence agreement for the app.
By downloading, buying or using ShiftKit, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
If these terms change, the date at the top of this page is updated. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
02What ShiftKit is
ShiftKit is a personal shift-roster and self-tracking tool for people who work rotating shifts. You enter your own shifts and your own daily notes on sleep, fatigue, energy, hydration and caffeine, and the app shows you patterns in what you entered.
It is a private notebook with structure. It is not a workforce management system, not an approved system of record, and not a substitute for anything your employer requires you to use.
03Not medical advice
If you are worried about your health, your sleep or your fitness to work, speak to a doctor or to your employer, not to an app.
04Your roster data
You are responsible for what you enter and for whether it is correct. ShiftKit shows you your roster as you recorded it, not as your employer holds it.
Your employer's roster is the authoritative one. Check it before you rely on a shift time, a swap or a leave block, especially after a change late in the day.
The same applies to pay. Figures read from a payslip are reported as printed on the document you added. ShiftKit does not check a payslip, does not say whether one is right or wrong, and gives no advice on tax, superannuation or entitlements. Take any question about your pay to your employer, your union or a registered tax agent.
A fit-for-work self declaration is your own statement, in your own words, kept with the shift it belongs to. ShiftKit does not assess you and does not clear you for anything.
You are also responsible for keeping your own copies. Export is manual, and the app cannot recover data you deleted on every device.
05Licence granted
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use ShiftKit for your own purposes, on devices you own or control.
The licence covers iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch through Universal Purchase: one purchase, every platform, on the same Apple Account.
The app is licensed to you, not sold to you. All rights not granted here stay with the developer.
06Subscriptions and payment
ShiftKit Pro is sold three ways: AUD $7.99 a month, AUD $44.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or AUD $119.99 once for Lifetime, which includes Pro features added later.
All payments are handled by Apple and charged to your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID Account Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.
Prices shown in the app are set per App Store storefront and currency, so the amount you see is the amount for your region.
07Refunds
Refunds are handled solely by Apple. The developer cannot issue, approve or reverse a payment, because no payment ever passes through him.
Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com using the Apple ID that made the purchase.
08Acceptable use
- Do not reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source of the app, except where law expressly allows it.
- Do not resell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app or your licence.
- Do not use the app in a way that breaches your employer's policy, your enterprise agreement, or any law.
- Do not use the app to store records your employer requires to be held in their own system.
If you breach these terms, your licence may be revoked.
09Data and privacy
Your data lives on your device and in the private database of your own iCloud account. There is no ShiftKit account and no ShiftKit server, and the developer cannot see, read or retrieve what you enter.
The details are in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
10Roster sharing
If you share a roster, you decide who receives it. You are responsible for that choice and for what the person you invited does with what they can see. If you choose to include markers or day and shift comments, those are shared with the roster.
Do not share anything that identifies a patient, a casualty or a specific incident. Keep shift comments free of it in the first place.
11Availability and changes
The app will change over time. Features may be added, altered or withdrawn, and support for older operating systems ends when maintaining it is no longer practical.
Uptime for iCloud sync is not something the developer commits to. iCloud is Apple's service, and its availability is outside the developer's control.
12Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent permitted by law, ShiftKit is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
13Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including missed shifts, lost data, or any decision made about work or driving.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or any other right that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability can be limited rather than excluded, it is limited to replacing the app or refunding the amount you paid for it.
14Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and the developer submit to the courts of that jurisdiction.
15Apple as a third-party beneficiary
This agreement is between you and the developer, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for ShiftKit or for its contents, and Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app.
Any claim relating to the app — including product liability, a failure to meet a legal requirement, or a consumer protection claim — is the developer's responsibility, not Apple's.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and are entitled to enforce them against you.
16Contact
Questions about these terms, or about how the app behaves, are welcome.
